The deadline for Milk Money, Volume Eight: When Jeff Goldblum Speaks is June 15, 2010.
What kind of work does Milk Money publish?
Milk Money seeks out exceptional works of literary and experimental fiction and poetry. Works should be no more than 5,000 words whether it is fiction or poetry. Please only submit one short story per issue, but feel free to submit several works of poetry. Have fun! We’re open to many genres.
Can Milk Money accept work that has previously been published?
If a work has been published outside of the United States or published in an online-only journal, we will consider it; please specify in the body of your e-mail if this is the case when you are submitting. All other previously published material will not be considered.
How do I submit?
Milk Money only accepts work submitted via e-mail at submissions@milkmoneymag.com. Please attach your work in the form of .doc, .rtf or .txt files. Any submissions we receive otherwise cannot be considered for the magazine. Please do not paste the text in the body of your e-mail. A formal cover letter is not necessary. However, we do like to read a little bit about our contributors so please include a short bio in your e-mail.
Can I submit my artwork to be a candidate to design a future Milk Money cover?
Yes! We hand select the artists who design our covers and are always in need of candidates for future issues. Please send URLs or .jpg files of your portfolio to our submission e-mail, submissions@milkmoneymag.com.
Does Milk Money pay contributors for accepted works?
Unfortunately, no. We publish the magazine solely on generous, private donations from readers and release events. As the magazine grows, we hope to one day compensate our contributors, but at this point we cannot.
When can I expect to hear from Milk Money regarding the status of my submission?
The magazine is published roughly three times a year with specific deadlines for each issue. Works submitted anytime before the deadline listed above are considered for that issue. Once the deadline passes, we sit down and make all of our final selections. Those who have submitted will hear back from us within two to four weeks following the submission deadline.
Note: Submissions do not have to reflect the theme or title of the volume.
